Q: What makes a Thumbprint Adventures program better than another kid's program?
A: At Thumbprint Adventures, we know the value in creative thinking versus skill based teaching.  In addition to the academics and athletic skill training kids already receive, Thumbprint Adventures thrives to grow a child's mind to a level where new information and ideas are welcome and more readily available to the child.

Q: I've never been to a class.  What do you do?
A: Each week your child gets to go on an adventure (without actually leaving the room).  We allow for 10 minutes at the beginning of each class to settle in and play and create with open ended toys, and then we launch into the adventure.  One week we may fly on airplanes to the magical butterfly garden, using scarves to be butterflies, move to classical music as we pop bubbles in the garden, create a colourful butterfly craft, and even swing in a cocoon.  The next week we might find ourselves walking over ice domes to skate with penguins in the south pole!  No two adventures are ever the same because our unique program encourages imagination and creativity.

Q: That sounds like fun, but will my child understand?
A: It is lots of fun!  And no, we don't expect children to understand the entire adventure.  But only through exposure and participation do kids learn.  We give children tangible props to attach meaning to new vocabulary, locations and characters.  And through our weekly handouts for parents/ caregivers, the journey is easily transferred to home play too.
Each Thumbprint class has the children working as a group and individually to reach a destination and perform tasks within that destination.  For example, to get to the South Pole, the kids might have to place balance domes on the floor and balance on them like ice to reach the penguins; another day they may be invited to spend a night (just pretend) in the Thumbprint Adventures clubhouse - but they need to design the clubhouse first.   Each week encourages unique thinking, planning, cooperation, craft design, musical and movement activities.

Q: I'm interested in booking a birthday party?
A: We help parents pick an adventure that matches the child's interests.  Is the birthday child a boy or a girl?  So, for a 4 year old boy we may choose, for example, a Super Hero Adventure.  The kids have 10 minutes of free play until everyone arrives then our staff explains that not only are we here to celebrate a special birthday, but we have been specially chosen to go on a secret mission.  The kids work together from one activity to the next - building (for example) a rocket ship, avoiding aliens, and making communication devices.
We include time for food and craft into the two hour adventure.  The kids are engaged from beginning to end!

Q: Do you teach literacy and academics?
A: While we don't specifically teach your child to recognize letters or the alphabet, or adding and subtraction, they will not only learn it, but learn it in ways that will differ from their school experience.  This involved, adventure based learning ensures that children form and solidify neural connections.  Not only will children begin to learn quicker, but they will be stimulating connections in the brain that don't get stimulated in school.
