Imagine you're getting ready to perform at a Comedy Cafe? You first need to design the set, create microphones and deliver funny jokes...
Drama has always been an important means of developing creative and confident children. Research shows that students who participate in drama based activities are:
- more open to speaking in public
- more persuasive in their written and oral communication
- better able to make friends and adjust to new situations
- better able to relate to and empathize with others
- more positive and confident
Each week children are given a scenario where they need to think carefully, use their problem solving skills, attentive listening and sharing skills and they become salient characters. Instruction around body language, voice work and a change in vocabulary are all essential ingredients.
In addition to the scenario work, each class begins with a series of quick- thinking improv exercises and incorporates the use of a created, usable art project.
